Wow...my GSR has an Fast Idle Valve. I know this because I've been working on it today. I don't know about all hondas but the LS and the GSR from 94-95 have them.
Props to Jim (JRCivic)for the useful info.

Yeah, my 95 has both as well. The lower port in the TB is the FIT intake, the upper port is the IAC intake. Plugging one or the other should negate their contribution to fast idle. If you plug both (engine is up to temp) and it still idles high, the throttle plate stop or cable is out of adjustment, or the idle adjusting screw is messed up, or more likely, there's a vacuum leak somewhere.
------------------
Mine is a 1994 GSR 5-spd and it's got both valves..... not that they're doing me any good or anything. I'll check the IACV using the FSM and see what happens. Is there a port in the TB for the IACV as well? I only plugged the FIT port which had suction when the engine was cold but closed when it heated up.
Overall the car is not driving smoothly at all. Getting back on the gas after coasting is abrupt (car jumps) especially when at low RPMs.... do you guys think the TPS could be messed??
I haven't ruled out a vacuum leak yet but I've aso been unable to find one.... I hope nothing is cracked.... that would suck!
Thanks for the help

This statement is TOTALLY incorrect!

It's powered by GASOLINE damnit!!!
I have had this problem on my 95 gsr too...you can completely bypass the FIT by closing it in completely (turn that plastic cork inside the valve). When cold, your idle won't rise up to 2K or whatever but stay at constant at 1K...when the car warms up, it'll be at 800rpm or whatever your stock was set at and you won't get that idle fluctuating problem. While since the FIT was disable, coolant through the throttle can also be safely by-passed without effecting the idle either.

True dat! I just did it 2 days ago. On a cold crank it doesn't rev past 2K. I usually let it sit for a minute before I drive it though.

Really, so that could solve my problem? I'll try taking it apart this weekend and see what happens. Any clue why these parts keep blowing on supercharged GSRs? I've never heard of this happening on NA ones.

I may be incorrect about the 94-95 GS-R's, however, I am certain the 98-01 DO NOT have an FIT. I have the factory service manual (Helms) and it specifically states that only automatics have FIT's and manuals have IAC's. Not to beat a lame subject into the ground, but are you sure that the factory service manual calls out an FIT on 95-94 GS-R's? I wonder why they would have eliminated it on later models.
------------------
Took apart the FIT valve tonight. That threaded plastic piece that holds the sprung plunger in place wasn't even engaged. I took off the cap and threaded in as far as it would go.... hopefully this does something. Anyone know how to test the IACV? I put voltage to it and I can hear the solenoid clicking but nothing moves (that damn valve costs $350 CDN over here). I'm gonna try a TPS and IACV from another car to see if it works better.
Thanks
Ian
